The History of Alpha Imaging TechnologiesTwenty years ago Alpha Imaging Technologies was founded in a one room office over a garage with a goal of applying digital technology to the prepress segment of the printing industry. Our goal then, as it is now, is to help our customers successfully make the transition to digital printing. Our first products involved Mac based pagination onto plain paper high resolution laser printers. They were used primarily for type and logos; newspapers used them for complete pagination including low resolution halftone (85 line screen). Direct to negative film imagesetters replaced the laser printers providing better resolution and removing a step in the process. This technology evolved into computer to plate. In 1994 the first large format printers were developed by Encad and LaserMaster, we were one of the early adaptors of this technology. From there the product line grew to include Aqueous, solvent, UV curable, fabric and Latex ink technologies. We also expanded our geographical coverage to include the entire northeast when the New York operation was opened in 2004. Our latest expansion is into the digital press market; we are now offering a lower cost, more versatile digital press that we feel offers great growth potential. As a company we remain committed to finding new digital technologies and helping our customers incorporate these technologies so that they are successful as the various segments of the graphic arts market converge into the digital segment of the marketplace.
